I created like a hundred images of mushroom villages -- for my personal fun. From those I got the inspiration for this story. Of course, this one has both the colors, and spawned Episodes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Decay is nowhere to be seen

And marchers marching all the while

Plant trees, all colors; not just green

Winter comes, and only ice

Fills up the new ice-skating rink

Where happy crickets, gnats, and lice

Wear purple, yellow, black and pink

Long live mushrooms! 🎵

When the right time came, our two main characters -- Scarlett Reddy Carminia O'Reddish and Azure Aquamarine Oceanblue McTurquois -- enlarged the family. Two offspring were born, who were named Fullcolor Rainbow Judith the female and Multihue Triadic Johann the male.

And all around, the Mushroom-Village that was once two separate villages prospered, and the houses whose roofs -- padron, the "caps" -- were no longer either Blue or Red were increasing in number.

And, most beautiful gift of all, no one bickered anymore.

It’s Pilzenhölle! You know, if Pilzenhölle were happy. Pilzenhimmel?

Oh my dear adorable Q, forgive me if I don't know what Pilzenhölle is... (and I'm honest, because I'm telling you I don't know what it is before going google it).

You won’t find it on Google. It’s a place that only I and my incessant adorer P. J. Night have seen. In English, it would be called “Mushroom Hell,” but “Mushroom Hell” sounds stupid. Lang Lebe die Pilzenhölle!

And so let's skip ahead half a century (we can do it, after all, we are the storytellers!) to find, on either side of the clearing, two Mushroom Villages that are no longer two, but rather a single agglomeration of houses and farms that -- oh amazement, oh joy, oh rejoicing -- live in harmony and, what is even more incredible when compared to only half a century earlier, have roofs -- or better said, "caps" -- of both colors -- Blue and Red... and in some cases even colors never seen before!

Our two heroes, Scarlett Reddy Carminia O'Reddish and Azure Aquamarine Oceanblue McTurquois, live happily in one of the most beautiful houses of the New Village.

Wonderful! If only it hadn’t required the threat of open warfare to work that out!

Well, you know that when people bicker about the colors of something, war is always behind the corner...

The two Villages risked open warfare. They were on the brink of conflict when, by a strange turn of events, Elder Ross McRosered, now at the ripe old age of 417, departed forever to the Great Ethereal Wood, and in his place the council elected Rory McReddish himself, the father of Scarlett Reddy Carminia. He, exerting all his diplomatic artistry, succeeded in having an edict ratified that effectively sanctioned the conclusion of hostilities between the Blue Mushroom Village and the Red Mushroom Village.

It was agreed -- and we quote verbatim -- that "every color has equal dignity and every mushroom is necessary to the prosperity of the Forest" -- thus ending millennia of curmudgeonly bickering between neighbors.

It begins the ending... :)

But hey, we still have two episodes... what about a happy ending (very fairy-tale-ish)? 😊

Ooops... three episodes. I just published the 10 of 12, so my count is on that and not on this one.

Their love seemed sealed -- and, with it, all other loves that, unbeknownst to the bickering Elders, had been born in the new generation, which seemed to pay little heed to the differences between the two colors.

It seemed, we said -- because with a striking gesture, Scarlett Reddy Carminia O'Reddish and Azure Aquamarine Oceanblue McTurquois stood before all the assembled Elders, and their appearance was shocking. For she wore the traditional red dress and mushroom-red headdress, yes, but she had dyed her hair blue. And he, while retaining his blueberry-colored beard, wore a red mushroom on his head.

"We will join," Scarlett said, "whether you want to or not. It's time for the Red and Blue to stop being divided."

The two young people (just turned 40!) did not want to hide their love at all and in no way. They wanted everything to be out in the open. And of their love -- absurd! a Red with a Blue! where will we go from here! -- was discussed in the High Palaces of the Councils of Sages, both in the Red One [https://creator.nightcafe.studio/creation/7FaeesZE7D3iWqZEXUJ8] and the Blue One. And it was decided that no, that marriage could not be done, because the endless bickering would have to have an end, and that was unthinkable -- the Red and Blue had to remain separate, as was written in the Books of Traditions.
