Farmers here have planted these windbreaks decades ago, so there are long rows of beautiful mature trees!
Absolutely beautiful.
Siobhan, could you read the comment below about the Race Track? I would like to tell you the story!
This is Gustave Dore. He is a little somber and sometimes freaky!
Thank you, PurpleDaisy! It's nice to make simple things sometimes.
Looks effective though. Sort of French vibe. π
I love seeing the horses run! Arlington Park Race track in Arlington Heights, IL has been torn down, leaving a very long row of aged willow trees. This is the land that the Chicago Bears have bought. The taxes then went up crazy high, so they may not build their new stadium there, but build it in Chicago. Some local news for you! That's why I called it "What's Left of the Racetrack!" I hope they don't cut down all those willow trees!
ahhh ... cool!
Wow so it is a remnant of a race track. How fantastic. Shame that itβs consigned to history but lovely to have at least a little reminder of the past. In my local town on all the maps too there is a curved row of trees that look strange in isolation but was actually half of a driveway up to a centuries old ( now demolished) estate house. The old beech trees are still standing now despite being over 200 years old. I love your story
Cool! They put the trees on the maps back then! I'm glad the trees are still standing! Are they the white ones with the really light bark? Think...someone very rich owned those trees and all the land.
Yes normally tree symbols only denote a forest but these were in a curved line decorating an avenue which is exactly what is it.
And yes someone very rich must have owned all those trees and land. Yes the white ones with the light bark exactly
Thank you, DeeGee! It's nice to know that some people likie minimalism!
And minimalism is so scarce in NightCafe.... π
Thats an understatement! Minimalism does not win many challenges!
So soft and pleasant to look at. Yet, it has a sad nostalgic feeling. Really wonderful.
Yes, I feel that nostalgia, too. Because it is foggy and silent, maybe? I love it, too! Thak you, Teri!
Wow! What a beautiful creation. I love the "simplicity" and the chosen color palette. Really gorgeous
This is extremely beautiful! And also a really typical Dutch landscape. It reminds me of a beautiful painting I saw in a museum the other day, and something tells me you will like it as well; Bomenrij ("row of trees") by Jan Mankes
Thank you, YukiKenji! Yes, I looked up Mankes' trees and I love the painting! There are people in the painting showing how tall the trees are. I didn't know my image was like Dutch. I asked for the style of Gustave Dore and it came up!

The clues and remnants of the past are all around this. Very dutch actually. The polders are so open they often plant rows and rows of trees like this to provide shelter
