What makes a family?
First Mark: Integrity
A flourishing Christian family is marked, first, by all its members—fathers, mothers, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and children—being present and active. The family is not divided by strife between the adults or among the children. There are many types of families: Those that are Divorced or separated. Those with two fathers, two mothers, step parents, and single parents. The family is often present together as a whole on a daily basis.
Second Mark: Communion
Communion is when members within the family share one life. While not always a reality, each person knows, loves, is known by, and is loved by all the others. They are typically united by ties of blood and generation, but there are also those that are adopted and otherwise accepted into family communion. There is a mutual containment of each in each, or of all in all, by love and knowledge. The partaking together of daily activities, such as common meals, exemplifies this unity.
