At 14:44 GMT, the Homecoming rover was deployed. The rover’s primary goal was to retrieve the body of Fields, with the secondary goal of recording visual data of the lunar life form if there was an incidental encounter.

At 14:46 GMT, the area where Fields died was identified by the rover’s AI co-navigation system, and departed to complete its primary mission.
