Sending out massive Thanks to each and every one of you for supporting me once more in an amazing "Jester's" challenge. I love running this challenge and really felt inspired by the diversity of images entered, from cute little mice and Cat Jesters to sinister Evil Jesters, happy Jesters to sad jesters. Double exposures to fine art portraits.
please join me in congratulating our top 3 players: @Gecko6955 in 1st place. @Oreva in 2nd place and @Hennie in 3rd.
I'll be taking a little break in this chat room but will be back with another challenge in due course. I will also revisit this challenge in due course!! In the mean time i have 3 other regular challenges always running: Fantasy/my loras/ Africa (all start with my name prefix - Fio's)

Every time I see this picture again with that grinning cat, I have to grin back. That's one of the happiest, sweetest, funniest pictures I've seen in ages. I'm going to download it as a wallpaper for my tablet! 😂

I think this has been the ONLY jester image I've seen yet that I liked! Don't just like it, I love it! 😻

"The Mad Jester" - I really like this one also. They're usually portrayed as affable, amusing performers, and I always felt they're slightly insane as they have to entertain those who are much crazier than they are 😂 ❤️ 😻

Often jesters were glad of their work, to a certain extent, because most of the time, they were those with some physical handicap or deformity. It meant a warm safe place with plentiful food. Otherwise, they'd end up as beggars. Some were very shrewd though and became trusted by the reigning power.

But politics then was even worse than today - constant wars between small duchies, power struggles, intrigues, poisoning and assignations. I wouldn't want to get *too close* to the head of state as who knew how long they'd be around and their fate could easily become the jester's too.

I love history and was reading today more about Phillip II of France. He did nothing but push and shove throughout his reign. Women were used as pawns which was pretty common then. What a life for most back then! 🫤🥺😡

*Prompt:* Medieval castle entrance, weathered stone walls, ivy creeping up, cobblestone floor. Blue sky, sunny day. Vintage cat mischievous grin, dynamic pose, jester outfit floppy hat with bells, ornate patchwork tunic, pointy shoes. Juggles mice. birds painters Rembrandt, Van Eyck
