In the shadows of Edinburgh

Many years past, I can't remember who I used to be, But I'll never forget the moment the rain fell heavily. I walked out into the street, though I can't remember why, When lightning flashed, thunder roared, and the sky turned awry. A burning smell filled the air, as if something was on fire, And the darkness opened up, like a door, as I began to retire.

A strange world embraced me tightly, I couldn't fathom how to keep on living rightly. Holes in my head didn't scare nor burn, Will I be trapped here for eternity to yearn? A hollow and grotesque spirit, so absurd, Devoid of friends or love, feeling unheard.
