I was led to believe, by my mother, that children didn't need their father... only their mother... Just like not valuing marriage. Today, two mistakes later, I see that marriage is the family bond that must be firmly defended... as well as the active presence of the father and mother in the lives of their children. Family love is a gift from God to be cultivated and valued.
