“There will always be reservations, things one must leave out, events one can’t explain without handing over a full map of one’s life, unfolding it, making clear that all the lines and contours stand for long days and nights when things were bad or good, or when things were too small to be described at all: when things just were. This is a life.”
Oh you’ve been busy! This one stands out for me! I think the graphite works best for this kind of image, where you are capturing an emotional reaction in the eyes and wisdom in the expression. Perhaps it’s just the lovely detail in the lines and wrinkles on the aging face, but I prefer this to the exuberant smile for the pencil drawing treatment.
