In the Year of Knowledge Unearthed, 1451 DR, the primordial Maegera rose from beneath Mount Hotenow, triggering a volcanic eruption. The molten lava and deadly pyroclastic flows stemming from the eruption decimated large swaths of Neverwinter Wood. Many areas have healed and regrown since the Ruination; but, a few areas, like this one, remain poisoned and dead more than forty years later.

I created this scene to help flesh out the lore of Neverwinter Wood for the Icespire Peak adventure path (D&D 5E Essentials Kit). If you use it in your own campaign, I would love to hear about it!
