That is why we now believe that face covering is the completion of modesty. And today, we want to explain one of the key reasons: it removes vanity.

What Do We Mean by Vanity?
When people hear the word vanity, they often think of someone standing in front of a mirror, admiring themselves. But vanity is much more subtle. It is not just about outward beauty—it is about awareness of how we are perceived by others.

Think about it: How often do we adjust our facial expressions to make an impression? A small smile to appear friendly, a raised eyebrow to show amusement, a thoughtful look to seem intelligent. Even when we do not intend to, our faces communicate messages, and we become aware of how others react to them.

This is not necessarily wrong—but it keeps us tied to external validation.

Blogpost: Face Covering and Vanity – A Deeper Perspective
By Lea & Vanessa

When we first embraced the modest lifestyle, we thought of modesty mainly in terms of clothing—covering the hair, choosing loose garments, avoiding excess adornment. But as our journey deepened, we came to realize that modesty is not just about what is covered, but also about why. It is about shifting focus away from the self, away from external validation, and toward a purer, more intentional way of living.
