When I was a kid, these roadside junk shops were as common as roadkill along rural American highways.

A guy (or gal) in a chicken outfit would lure you in with signs and flags, and then would try to pick your pocket, selling you a long handled cast iron fry pan that doubled as a shovel or a Dandelion scented, striped dream (?) pillow.

We CERTAINLY had None of this foolishness in Norfolk County, Massachusetts!! Just a bunch of slightly over priced antique stores -- one in particular where a weird old guy had a plaster statue of a "very fat smiling Buddha" and each time I went in with my mom, he'd ask me to "rub Buddha's tum-tum for luck". (That literally happened. Talking 1966.)
