Jeanne d’Arc, the maid of Orleans

She was born as a peasant in Domrémy and her childhood was marked by the 100 Years' War, between Charles VII and Henry VI of England for the French throne.

At the age of 17, she began receiving messages from the archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine telling her to help Charles become king and end English domination. She appeared before him and after several physical and religious tests, they entrusted her with an army of five thousand men, which she commended to defeat the English and lift the siege of Orleans. This victory allowed Charles to travel to Reims to be crowned in 1429.

After the coronation, Joan stopped hearing the saints, but she decided to continue fighting and try to liberate Paris, however she had lost the support of the king and God. She was captured by the English, who handed her over to the French inquisition. She was accused of heresy and burned at the stake on May 30, 1431.
