A hundred and twenty cycles have passed since the Collapse. Refugees have met, sometimes forming stable communities. Others have drifted, never to be heard from again.
Daily in our garden in the town we call Acceptance, I ponder the overt symbol of the need to remember, not the horror, but the path of society and and the power of people to change the very nature of reality.

Thank you for introducing me to this story and this format! (Can't wait to try my hand at marrying images and short stories.) This made for quite the cautionary tale; I do enjoy a good parable. I must admit I find allegory a tough read as I never studied enough Lit or Lit Crit to engage much with that type of writing. (Personally I'm mostly a dialogue oriented author as I find that easiest in terms of expression.) I do love mythology though so the subject matter of a people's relationship with their pantheon definitely pulled me in. Dore was a good choice for this and the length of each chapter was a nice bite sized morsel, easy to digest, but enough to keep you tantalized for more. I really enjoyed this experience and thank you again for the opportunity!
This was incredible, both the art and the story. Chapter 3 and 13 were my personal favorites, and I certainly appreciated the Afterward and its use of color and a garden, to create a bit of relief from the bleakness that truthfully hits close enough to accurate of present day circumstances to be discouraging. The words, “Apathy was raised up as a God with no fanfare.” I just LOVED that line.
This was the first time I encountered this type of creativity on here, and I really enjoyed the journey!
the art was great. the story was epic. it was powerful in parts. and tragic in others. you have a real gift. i bet you write really awesome poetry
