Alexander Archipenko

Alexander Archipenko (Alexander Porfyrovych Archipenko, Olexandr; 1887 – 1964) was a Ukrainian sculptor and artist active in France and the USA, who became a key figure in the development of Cubism and Modern sculpture. Archipenko’s work is characterised by its innovative use of form and space, incorporating geometric shapes and abstracted human figures. His techniques included the use of bronze, wood, and glass, often combining these materials to create dynamic, multi-dimensional sculptures. Archipenko’s contribution to art is significant for his experimental approach and his role in pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpture.
