He believed in his power and his connection to the lwa. He could summon them with his drumming, singing, and dancing. He could communicate with them through his divination tools, such as cards, bones, and shells. He could channel them through his body, becoming possessed by their energy and personality. He could also send them to do his bidding, whether it was to bless or curse someone
