When I was young I found box's of old Dragon magazines. In it was a comic series called Wormy that caught my attention. Underneath the Dragons, Imps, Trolls etc. was a subplot about the small intelligent animals like the amphibians here.

I was testing various engines and styles looking for that same vibe. Here we see a dog as a night watchman. It's the perfect job for an alert canine.

Wormy was a 70-80's cartoon and very far from 3D stylings but experiments can take you in interesting directions.
