Hubert Fish, the Collector

A mentally handicapped man has a hobby of collecting "pretty rocks" until one day, he collects a peculiar stone that has an ill effect on him. He becomes intellectually superior to those around him, and seems to possess esoteric knowledge and suddenly takes to performing seemingly ineffective rituals until one day, the townsfolk experience bizarre phenomena in their town.

Hubert Fish, eventually, becomes unrecognizably sinister in appearance and conduct.
