I never believed in fairy tales,
Thought them fanciful figments in books.
But one night, in a darkened alley,
An old man appeared before my looks.
Emerging from the shadows swiftly,
He stood right before my stare;
His face was hid by a bushy beard
Of tangled hoary hair!
I was frightened for a moment,
Started running in flee.
But the stranger simply chuckled,
Blocking off my path's retreat.
I knew then things looked quite dismal,

Fine, old man, you've won - My pockets are all empty, And my life already has no fun.

Trusting this stranger's word,
I did all that he bade.
