Great image, beautiful poem - I searched for "Frigate of Harlingen": "Dutch Fifth Rate frigate 'Harlingen' (1781)"

Thank you! Jeez, you took that very serious. Firstly it was planned to be just some ship from the Dutch (since I decided to make it as a parody of "The Phantom Ship" by Frederick Marryat) and Harlingen was the main port of the Dutch fleet at the period of my poem's story (about 1700s). But now... It sounds waaaay more interesting and deep. Thank you for this great addition!

The sails were filled with the wind

In the port of Harlingen;

Filled like tears filled a boy's eyes,

A son of the captain.


This time he still didn't know

It was their last moment.

And was waving goodbye to a frigate

Leaving to the campaign.


- Mom, this night I had a dream

That daddy had returned.

It was like true, was so real,

And I felt his palm.


- Please, forgive me, my dear son;

The depth was so beckoning.

Your mother raised you alone,

Without help for years.


I tightly hold his hand, 

- Stay with us, don't leave.

- I'd love to, but I can't.

Please don't be mad at me.


This moment his pale hand

Turned into a smoke.

Then his body and his face

Vanished in the fog.


- Darling, don't be scared,

I will be with you, I mean that.

My soul will be bond with you forever, I promise


Even despite that my time

Was so short for my life.

And the sails of mine was torn down from the mast.
