'D' IS FOR DUCK (polyphonic prose story)

From the moment they met, the peach and the duck were a fine singing duet. The rubber duck sang vibrato with a rich pitch and full deep-set. The peach was melodic with sweet-sounding smooth tones, so very hard to forget. Their voices together were enchanting, for sure, with singing both magical and pure. For listeners, each song made emotions arise. Nowhere nearby were there ever dry eyes.

The duck then complained, as all ducks will, that it should be top billed. No longer ‘THE PEACH AND THE DUCK', it should be ‘THE DUCK AND THE PEACH' instead. The rubber duck insisted it was better at singing, by far, and the peach sounds like it belongs in a jar. They both then agreed on a vocal contest, to see who was best, but while singing some of the highest notes the duck's voice was very overstressed. No longer could the duck sing like before, and it made only sounds like rusty old door.
