Floral Portrait

The princess, now queen turned as someone complimented the flowers her mother had made her wear for the coronation. "Lovely roses, my queen." Her handmaiden bowed. The queen just stared blankly and said. "They are, once you manage to block out the pain of the thorns." A trickle of blood streamed down her forehead but she quickly wiped it away and continued greeting her subjects. 'Plaster a smile, hide the pain, pretend you're not tied down by an invisible chain.
