Banksy is a street artist, political activist, and film director originally from England. His real name and identity are unknown, and people can only speculate about them. He has been active since the 1990s, creating satirical street art and subversive epigrams that blend dark humour with graffiti, using a unique stencilling technique. His art often features political and social commentary and can be seen on streets, walls, and bridges around the world. Banksy's roots are in the British Bristol underground scene, where artists and musicians collaborated. According to Banksy, he was inspired by 3D (a graffiti artist and founding member of Massive Attack).
