The Veneration of St. Agnes coincides with the annual storms bearing her name, the Tears of St. Agnes. St. Agnes, a martyred virgin saint, shed so many tears at her death that she flooded away the wicked. Northern Proxemia experiences gale force winds and torrential rains for several weeks during the late winter.

Unlike most religious ceremonies, women take the lead during the Veneration of St. Agnes. Women bring the light into the church, and stand near the altar while the men stay in the back in the shadows.

This image shows women of various ages in a serene and contemplative mood, holding candles during a medieval Orthodox chapel service. The women wear traditional servant dresses and aprons, set against a dark, intricately detailed background with triadic colors and volumetric lighting.

Dawn-kissed waters shimmer jewel-blue against pine-draped shores, while mist-veiled mountains stand sentinel in velvet-green majesty. Sun-warmed pebbles nest beneath bare feet as cloud-dappled light dances across wave-rippled surfaces. Memory-haunted breezes carry pine-sweet whispers through shore-guarding maples, their leaf-filtered light casting honey-gold patterns on sandy paths. Time-forgotten coves cradle childhood-treasured moments where water-lulled dreams bloom beneath sky-blessed summer days.

This serene image captures the tranquil beauty of a dawn-lit lake shore, with mist-shrouded mountains and pine trees reflected in the glassy waters. The scene is bathed in warm sunlight and colorful hues, evoking a sense of nostalgia and peaceful wonder.
