Thanks so much to everyone (all 183 of you) for participating in this week's EPIC Caturday Challenge. The soccer/football/calcio fan in me was most positively delighted by all your submissions incorporating felines into The Beautiful Game. Your collective imagination and vision is always an endless source of pleasure. I hope you all had as much fun with this theme as I have, and I wish you all loads of fun and enjoyment while following the remainder of these international tournaments in full-effect as we speak (in case any of that stuff happens to be something you're into). Morrigan is a Goa'uld Queen who hid her lineage from those around her, choosing to draw power towards her while remaining in the shadows of other Goa'uld and taking on the persona of the Phantom Queen. Moving slowly, Morrigan eliminated her rivals, including her former ally, Dagda, whose territory she claimed as her own. However, an attack by Heru'ur soon robbed her of much of her territory. For centuries Morrigan's territory grew slowly until the death of Heru'ur at the hands of Apophis allowed her to regain her lost territory and claim her place among the System Lords. She voted to let Anubis rejoin the System Lords, though her forces later joined those of Yu in opposing him. Morrigan later surrendered to Ba'al rather than be destroyed by the Kull warriors

With Ba'al's demise, Morrigan was eventually released from her virtual prison by SG-4. With the treaty signed by the surviving minor Goa'uld, she was placed into protective custody for a period of 12 years. She has since been released, her whereabouts unknown. 

This looks so much like my last ex wife it's creepy. 

Morrígan is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom, death, or victory in battle. In this role she often appears as a crow, the Badb. She incites warriors to battle and can help bring about victory over their enemies. Morrígan encourages warriors to do brave deeds, strikes fear into their enemies, and is portrayed washing the bloodstained clothes of those fated to die. She is most frequently seen as a goddess of battle and war and has also been seen as a manifestation of the earth- and sovereignty-goddess, chiefly representing the goddess's role as guardian of the territory and its people.
