Allegory of the Procession of Innocence

William Holman Hunt (1827–1910) was a founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a group of English painters, poets, and critics who sought to return art to the detailed observation, vivid color, and spiritual earnestness that characterized early Renaissance painting before Raphael. Hunt was deeply religious, and his work reflects a passionate belief in using art to convey moral and spiritual truth. His meticulous technique and symbolic complexity defined many of the Brotherhood's ideals. (OpenAI, 2025)
