They are trying to eliminate all gas-operated semi-automatic firearms on the basis that most people keep firearms for self-defense. The second amendment is about more than just self-defense. It's about defense of the nation. Seeing as how there is a background check. Every citizen who is authorized to own firearms is therefore a part of the "well regulated" militia of the United States of America. Should the nation be invaded by force, we should have good rifles on hand. California is corrupt as can be and is on its way to a tyrannical takeover. That word tyranny is funny looking; and that's no coincidence. It's very real. When push comes to shove, we'll be needing those firearms.
