Cleopatra ~ the last Ruler of Egypt

She wasn’t Egyptian but Ptolemaic (from somewhere near Macedonia) but she actually paid attention to the locals, learned their language, and practiced their religion. She was thought of as a true ruler of Egypt because of this. She is depicted in both Egyptian iconography and Ptolemaic ones. And while she shared none of the blood with the Egyptians she valued their history.

And this helped keep her in power and influence as a woman in the ancient world. She is still famous to this day and while some see her as a seductress none deny she had power. So much so that Julius Cesar felt he had to destroy her to keep control.
