Remarkably, Isaiah prophesies of the coming of the Messiah, later identified as Jesus Christ at around 740 years BC. The recorded details of his death, when compared to its fulfillment in the New Testament, are astonishing!

In the book of Isaiah, there are several prophetic passages that point to the coming of the Messiah, who would later be identified as Jesus of Nazareth. These prophecies span centuries before Jesus’s birth, and their fulfillment is a remarkable testament to God’s plan.
Here are some key prophecies from Isaiah that were fulfilled in Jesus:
Born of a Davidic Virgin:
Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be born of a Davidic virgin (Isaiah 7:14).
This prophecy found its fulfillment when Mary, a virgin, conceived and gave birth to Jesus (Luke 1:26-31).
Galilean Ministry:
Isaiah predicted that the Messiah’s ministry would begin in Galilee of the Gentiles (Isaiah 9:1-2).
Jesus’s ministry indeed started in Galilee (Matthew 4:13-16).
Heir to the Throne of David:
Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would be an heir to the throne of David (Isaiah 9:6/7; 11:1, 10).
Jesus, as a descendant of David, received the throne (Luke 1:32-33; Romans 15:12; Revelation 22:16).

Preparation by John the Baptist:
Isaiah prophesied that a voice would prepare the way for the Messiah (Isaiah 40:3-5).
John the Baptist fulfilled this role by announcing Jesus’s coming (Matthew 3:3; Mark 1:2-3; Luke 1:76; John 1:19-28).
Suffering and Atonement:
Isaiah’s powerful depiction of the Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52:12; 53:2) pointed to Jesus.
Jesus was beaten, scourged, and crucified, bearing our sins (Romans 4:25; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24-25).
Gentiles Seeking Him:
Isaiah foresaw that Gentiles would seek the Messiah (Isaiah 11:10).
Indeed, Gentiles came to find Jesus (Luke 2:30-32; John 12:20-21; Romans 15:12).
Silent Submission:
Isaiah described the Messiah’s silent acceptance of suffering (Isaiah 53:7).
Jesus silently took on our sins during His trial and crucifixion (Matthew 27:14; John 1:29; 1 Peter 2:23).

Substitute and Salvation:
Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be our substitute (Isaiah 53:6, 8).
Jesus died in our place, taking away our sins (Romans 5:6, 8; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
Healing and Resurrection:
Isaiah spoke of the Messiah healing the blind, lame, deaf, and raising the dead (Isaiah 26:19; 29:18-19; 61:1-2).
Jesus performed these miracles during His earthly ministry (Matthew 11:4-5; Luke 4:18-19; 7:21-23).
Burial and Judgment:
Isaiah mentioned that the Messiah would be buried in a rich man’s tomb (Isaiah 53:9).
Jesus was indeed buried in Joseph of Arimathea’s tomb (Matthew 27:57-60; John 19:38-42).
Jesus will also judge the earth with righteousness (Isaiah 11:4, 5; John 5:27; Revelation 19:11, 15).
These prophecies, spanning centuries, find their fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who willingly bore our sins to bring salvation to all who believe.
