Bluebarry

A favorite of mine! Whether bursting from interstellar nebula, or forming their own tiny forests within woodland meadows.

The latter may want explanation. I grew up not terribly far from a large expanse of old forest that, at times, would experience raging fires that would strip the land and bake the soil.

The first year after a burn, nothing would grow.

The second year, would come hardy weeks.

The third year, and each thence for the better part of a decade, there would be blueberries.

I loved the berries of course, but I actually (even as a young child) enjoyed picking them. They ripened at the most beautiful time of the summer, and the old-burn groves had very few insects, other than the occasional dragonfly or honeybee to give the sights and sounds of summer idyll.
