Ecthelion, Balrog Slayer

The Mighty, Valiant, Brilliant Ecthelion! He died during the Fall of Gondolin by drowning in his own fountain while slaying Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs. Ecthelion killed THREE Balrogs, which is more than Glorfindel. Ecthelion was Lord of the House of the Fountain. His folk loved jewels (as most of the Noldor do) and built fountains and played the flute. Ecthelion's sword was called Orcrist. It was forged by Lomion and later used by the dwarf Thorin II Oakenshield, who reclaimed the Lonely Mountain Erebor from the dragon Smaug.
