It's very well explained. Perhaps the translation of “ancestor” would be better as “antecessor”? To check... It's been a long time since I used Latin, and I could be wrong.
In France, we still use Roman numerals a lot, for example for monarchs with the same name (Henri II, Henri III, Henri IV... Louis XIV, Louis V, Louis XVI...), sometimes also on clocks . To simplify, the French language comes from Celtic dialects and Latin. Latin (or ancient Greek) is still taught at school, but these are optional courses, few young people are interested in them.

Does XIV mean 14? I'm kinda good at Roman numerals, although they don't teach them in American schools. I did find that "father" translates to "antecessor", but it just didn't sound right, so I changed it to forebear,  translating to "Anteferre".

This is, of course, a list of translations for my story, "Erkin of Draconesterra". This was created because some of the words and names in the story are in Latin.
Draconesterra=Dragon Land, or Land of the Dragons.
Draco Rex=Dragon King.
Draco Princeps=Dragon Prince.
Draco Cives=Dragon Citizens.
Regnum=Kingdom.
Cubicula=Chambers.
Proavus=Great-grandfather.
Avus=Grandfather.
Anteferre=Forebear, or forebearer, meaning father.
Erkin=Independence.
Ozod=Freedom.
Nonfur=Not a thief.
Carnifex=Butcher.
I=1.
II=2.
III=3.
IV=4.
V=5.
VI=6.
VII=7.
VIII=8.
IX=9.
X=10.
M=1,000 (So MM=2,000)
