Schönbrunn 🏰

Welcome to Schönbrunn! Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most beautiful Baroque and Rococo buildings in Europe, which served as the summer residence of the Habsburg family in Vienna. It is Austria's most visited tourist destination and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. According to legend, the name "Schönbrunn" comes from the expression "beautiful spring" (schöner Brunnen) that a ruler found here while hunting. During the reign of Maria Theresa, the palace became the center of imperial representation and acquired its present-day, luxurious form. Emperor Franz Joseph was born here, lived here, and died here in 1916; he and his wife, Queen Elisabeth (Sisi), spent a lot of time within its walls. The genius composer Wolfgang A. Mozart gave a concert for the imperial family in the palace's Hall of Mirrors at the age of just six.
