Pablo Amaringo

Pablo Amaringo (Pablo Cesar Amaringo Shuña; 1938 – 2009) was a Peruvian artist renowned for his intricate and vibrant depictions of visions experienced from drinking the entheogenic plant brew ayahuasca. Amaringo’s art style is characterised by detailed, colourful, and symbolic imagery, often illustrating scenes of shamanic rituals, flora, and fauna. He primarily used acrylic paints on canvas to create his works. His art is associated with the visionary art movement, blending traditional Amazonian cultural elements with his unique artistic vision to convey the spiritual and mystical experiences of the Amazonian people. Amaringo’s work has been instrumental in bringing the rich visual culture of the Amazon to a global audience.
