... Under a canopy of stars, Birgit sat outside her tent, the cool night air refreshing after a long day of trekking through the rugged beauty of North Macedonia. With the soft chirping of crickets and the occasional rustle of leaves as her only companions, she opened her notebook to pen her next blog entry, titled "Why the World Only Sees My Eyes."
Why the World Only Sees My Eyes
As I sit under the vast expanse of the night sky, surrounded by the quiet majesty of nature, I feel compelled to share with you why I have chosen to let the world see only my eyes. ... In today's world, we are constantly bombarded with images and ideals of beauty that are often unrealistic and unattainable. Social media and advertisements push us to conform to certain standards, leading to a culture where appearance is often valued above all else. This relentless pressure to look a certain way can be damaging, eroding our self-esteem and sense of self-worth.
For me, the decision to wear a strict hijab, one that covers not only my hair but also my face, emerged from a deep desire to reclaim my identity and to focus on my inner self. By choosing to let the world see only my eyes, I have found a way to distance myself from the superficial judgments based on appearance and to emphasize my character, my values, and my faith.
