Reflections: But The Words Aren't There

I don't know why, it's always been like this.

Well, not always...

I talked a lot when I was a kid. Maybe a little too much by some accounts. Too young to have a filter and not yet self-aware enough to care...

Most people change as they grow up, though. We deal with things that happen in life as best we can, sometimes in unhealthy ways... like putting up walls to protect ourselves. I guess I built mine too high.

Now I'm "The Mute" or "The Quiet Guy".

I mean, I'm not really a mute, per se. I talk to a few close friends that I'm comfortable around and also when my job requires it, but most people I work with are probably convinced that I am.

Some have begged me to speak, a few have tried to bribe me in one way or another... it usually doesn't work. Most have accepted it by now. Maybe I'm stubborn or maybe I just don't want to bother anyone. Maybe I just have nothing to say.

Sometimes I wish I did, though.
