There was only one place for this research to be done, and only one researcher, one. Charles Ferryman measures the winds and the sun, while he speaks with both his wife and his son. That's harder done than you think, in the long run. His son Brad was violently killed by a bank robber with a gun, and wife Claire in a hit-and-run. But he speaks with them when every day is done, in this research centre near the midnight sun. He follows all the proper protocols with absolute adherence. With far north inherence, the radio is without static and no interference, using exacting barometric pressures and a dozen other climatic measures. Being so far north, there's an open line to the other side. He will talk with anyone who has recently died. He asks them all about what it's like to be dead. Are they feeling terrified, or taking it all in their stride? Do they have a spirit guide? You can imagine the talks he has had. He still very much misses his wife Claire and son, Brad.
