Challenge Criteria

Today, if you want to talk to someone on the other side of the world, you need only pick up your phone. Put a message on social media, and it'll be read by people in every country, and even translated for them automatically.

But it wasn't always like this.

Create a picture showing how different long-distance communication was in years gone by.

You could go with relatively recent technology, like older generation mobile or landline phones, or a manually operated phone switchboard: "Hello, operator! How may I connect you?". Or maybe you'll go further back to the days of morse code? Or further still, to when talking to someone even a few miles away meant smoke signals or carrier pigeons or simply riding there yourself on a horse.

Be inspired, be creative, and have fun!
