"He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him". (Isaiah 53:3)
Isaiah 53 is about the Messiah and His passion. "Surely He has borne our griefs" (v4). In difficult times, it can be easy to think Jesus has left us; when in fact He is never closer. God never promised an easy life here on earth; He promised to NEVER leave us (Deuteronomy 31:6, Psalm 34:19, Hebrews 13:5). Including when we fall into sin. He took all our sin, "nailing it to His cross" (Colossians 2:14).
What sorrows, sins or shortcomings has Jesus borne for you? How has He been a comfort when there was none? How has His sacrifice changed you? For this week's challenge, portray what the "Man of Sorrows" means to YOU.
