EPISODE 3 — The Second Statement
Maeve and Ingrid return to one of the last people known to have seen Lena alive: Daniel Mercer, a local mechanic who gave a brief statement on the night she disappeared.
His first account was simple. Lena left the roadside bar alone at around 23:40.
His second statement is different.
Now Mercer claims he saw Lena enter a dark pickup shortly before midnight.
Maeve immediately notices the change in timing. Ingrid notices something else: Mercer becomes visibly uncomfortable when they mention the Bayou Motel and Room 214.
Then they find a diner receipt with Mercer’s name on it.
The timestamp is 02:13.
That places him awake and nearby long after he said he had gone home.
The detectives leave with one certainty: Daniel Mercer knows more than he told them.
The question is whether he is protecting himself — or someone else.
