Peter Wileman

Peter Wileman (1946 – ) is a highly acclaimed British artist known for his bold and vigorous style. He explores the effect of light on his subjects, creating atmospheric landscapes with varying degrees of abstraction. His work is often described as atmospheric landscape painting. While his work doesn’t strictly fall under a specific art movement, it can be seen as a blend of Realism, atmosphere, and abstraction. His scenes are inspired by Britain’s coves and harbours. His technique involves a vigorous use of colour and handling of paint, primarily oil, which he finds most adaptable to changes in light and mood.

Wileman has held prestigious positions such as the President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
