The Universes We Let Disappear

The dodo and the people of the Mascarene Islands belonged to a unique island world shaped by isolation, evolution and fragile ecological balance. For millions of years, the dodo evolved without natural predators, until human arrival transformed its environment through hunting, introduced species and habitat destruction. At the same time, colonisation profoundly changed the islands and the lives of the communities connected to them. This imagined encounter remembers a world permanently altered by human expansion and asks what humanity loses when an entire ecosystem disappears.
