Manifestation of Magic

This is the result of a curious mage's attempt to know magic better. while his peers looked through old tomes & read through the teachings of their predecessors, he strove for a more intimate & deeper understanding of what magic is & how it worked. he created a ritual, a very simple one with candles, small arcane tools, and trinkets. This was more of a fun game to relieve a little stress more than a true endeavor. Once he completed his set up he cast every spell that he knew that had "speak with", "comprehend", "translate", "transcribe", "identify" and other similar descriptors onto a beautifully cut gemstone, created from the fragments of other gems that had been cut. He then completed the ritual & released the stored spells while saying the words, "Hello magic, can you here me?" After a fairly long silence he laughed & just before cleaning up the ritual a wave of colors, emotions, lights, and energies washed over him, overwhelming his senses. Had he received an answer?
