Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh who ruled Egypt for about 20 years (1478-1458 BC).
She expanded trade, commissioned building projects and led military campaigns which brought prosperity to Egypt.
She was a successful ruler but her stepson erased her name and image from many monuments after her death.
Hatshepsut is an important figure in ancient Egyptian history.
