Confucius

Confucius, whose original name was Kong Fuzi or K'Ung Fu-Tzu, was a Chinese philosopher and thinker who lived during the Zhou Dynasty period in the 5th century B.C. He is considered one of the most important figures in Chinese history and one of the most influential thinkers in the world.

Confucius’s ideas formed the basis of Confucianism, a school of thought that had a profound influence on Chinese culture. Confucius emphasized the importance of morality, personal ethics, respect for family and social traditions, and the pursuit of excellence in all areas of life. His reflections on the importance of benevolence, righteousness, loyalty and social harmony continue to be studied and respected.

The Analects, a collection of sayings and ideas attributed to Confucius, are a key source for understanding his thinking and his contributions to Chinese philosophy and ethics.
