The Legend of Mount Mayon in the Philippines (Bikol Region-Albay)

The Legacy of Mayon Volcano With its near-perfect cone shape, Mayon Volcano is said to represent Daragang Magayon's unparalleled beauty. The frequent eruptions of the volcano are believed to be Panganoron's spirit watching over his beloved, and the thick clouds that often cover the volcano's peak are said to be his gentle kisses for Magayon. The occasional violent eruptions are thought to be Pagtuga’s continued attempts to claim Magayon for himself.
