“Automoton” Coffeemaker (1906)

Luigi Bezzera, a Milanese mechanic, invented the first fully automated coffee machine in 1901, which used steam to force hot water through ground coffee. Bezzera's machine produced a cup of coffee in seconds, marking the beginning of modern home espresso machines. In 1906, Bezzera's patents were purchased by Desiderio Pavoni, who founded the La Pavoni brand and began commercially producing espresso machines.
