The streets of New Los Angeles were filled with noise—people shouting, neon signs flickering, drones buzzing through the air. Life in the Lower City, below the grand domes and towering spires of the wealthy districts above, carried on as usual. But there was a new tension in the air, something that sent shivers down the spines of those who had learned to survive in the shadows.

Down here, in the forgotten alleys and crumbling buildings of the Lower City, the NGF had sent its soldiers. They moved in tight formations, their black uniforms gleaming under the pale glow of the streetlights, their eyes hidden behind reflective visors.
