Wow, this is really emotional! The grayscale definitely enhances these desolate feelings, with the vertical lines streaking down like tears (like the one staining her cheek, barely visible behind a strand of hair). The way her hair floats around her body, her pose radiates fear and grief, and her expression is clutched like her knees in pain of heart definitely accentuates this profound feeling of sorrow. The stormy clouds and sea like scene, especially as it is drawn in black and white, further increases the sad atmosphere, as the title adds an ironic touch to the grief. You can see a sun setting or rising in a distance though, either taking away or giving back color to the world. Depending on which, you can interpret it as further emphasizing on the sorrow, as she plummets to an incurable state of emotional pain, or the remainder of a hope - that she will not stay alone for long.
