Last ember in the remains of home reclaimed by nature

James hadn’t thought he would find shelter this far in the mountains. The snow felt deeper than his own height and every step in his trek for survival was arduous and exhaustive. The cabin he had come upon had long since returned to its rightful owner - Mother Nature. Snow drifts crept inside like tendrils of the earth pulling the old bones of the house back beneath a sea of white. A small fire was all he could manage, but with a collapsing roof overhead and the warmth it provided, he gained hope he might survive yet.
