High Fashion

Currently in Chicago area. Have lived in all three states on the West Coast. Race in the US - Homophobia in the US - things seemed to be progressing, then ... now ... the potential for a disaster. One's place in the world ... such contemplation can become overwhelming ... wasted too much time with that question ... wish I had just asked, "What do I want?" and had poured all my effort into that. Other wish ... that I had realized earlier how little I really "need".

Where on the planet are you? I returned to the United States during the pandemic for nearly three years. The pervading notions of race and racism over there really messed with my head. Before going to the United States in 2020, I was perfectly comfortable (ad flattered) having Cambodian people tell me that I am just as Asian as they are, without any regard for my skin color or the often times violent importance placed upon skin color in the culture in which I was raised. I’m back home in Cambodia, where no one gives me a second glance, but I have this idea stuck in my head now. Who am I? What Am I? does that even matter?
